Militant Children's Hour (Bay Area!)Borful Tang (Oakland) the cars the doors ...Sea Otter (dancing sea bunnies)Atakkr (member of Harrasor)

james brown the third (of harrassor) .. guitar and reverberations, echoes not soon forgotten "guitar/theremin/programming"he just recorded and i can't wait to hear it..it's here in my hot little hands.... the cars the doors ...punk spurts of fabulous electricity next onto santa barbara, wonderful people .... borful tang ....beatscapedsoundnoise out of suitcases in a pilots cap and goggles with weather station cellular planetary modules .... militant children's hour ...one man band of the year according to most of oakland and other places , rad...really truly some vocal processing that was so well chosen ... sea otter ......

i was thinking tonight that i was so happy books on tape was going to play the 19th coming up because i cannot help but dance (even if it's just in the hallway) when i hear, and i just got spirited up this night i guess, but sea otter is one great show~so i had a great time, being an idiot and dancing and 'flailinwhenyawanna' (which is my particular style...) heh heh

glad to be introduced to him and everyone tonight... the north cities of california have so much talent it's fabulous, we're lucky to live where we do on the spine of this thriving experimental thruway...

it's funny, sometimes, you don't know why, if it's the weather, or you've had a lot of whatever you drink...for me it's coffee or tea...but you just hear something at a show and it catches you and you can't help but give up to it... i feel like it's the ultimate combination of compliment and divine luck...it says you dig someone's sounds but it also means something moved you,

and not everyone dances anyway...moreso in clubs where 'everyone' in the room is 'dancing' to dj's or live music that is for dancing in certain schools of training and such...

movement is art. dancing is art. it is as innate to the human experience as dreaming, and is as misunderstood and ephemeral...

goneness / liam mooney / wire nuts / raven chacon and johnny chang

raven and johnny did a fabulous noise set with bass and violin, liam mooney played shop vacs thru tubes and made the most exquisite piercing cricket orchestral tones i've ever heard...

our own bob bellerue.halfnormal and wanda gala did a prom possession piece while showering water and noise from above fell into contorted electric horn poses...

wire nuts fixed our electrical outlet in the feedback pedal bent scapes, and now we have the most undeniably rockin rocket night light plugged into the most useful art installation at the il corral....

laco$te will play again soon, they were not well tonight...

VEGAN FOOD VEGAN FOOD from a true wandering chef~

a show to go along with an amazing menu!
holloy, mtn. home and shag tapestry accompanied the delectibles...

holloy is three drummers and the most deep electric strings, mtn. home (s.f.) and shag tapestry (s.d.) both strings and vox...really earth harmonic and resonant, wafting on the scents from the kitchen... this is the second time joshua has graced us with vegan delicacies, and his cuisine shows such a vision for flavor, it is a rare treat...

thanx to sean for bringing him again...hope to host him on his next pass thru town...

the RITA (canaduh) / Pedestrian Deposit / Oscillating Innards/ redglare / Suicidal Tendons / genius females

i was in and out for this show, but what i heard and saw was mind-blowing. exceptional noise. loud as loud and clear as clear.

tonight is the tshirt show!

i can't wait to see them up at the ice cream parlor (scoops, our vegan friendly neighborhood culinary artist culture spot)

it's amazing in there~...we just visited...

this first band the singer is now playing lefthanded guitar which is neat, good radio sound...digital leather...a three piece.... then another three the munchers (liked the vocals alot)...then kate and friends as crowned (great show with video too) ...top drawer...then cock in black (sweet noise collaboration)........................................................................

i don't think i like writing about bands because it's not something i know a lot about...but there are some shows i'm super into (biased) obviously they get to come here tho because i like them, so that's kind of silly (as if i should be a more wide-sighted visionary) and it's not like i get to just sit back and pay complete attention to the show because i'm thinking about all the logistics of it...when i do though i can have some genuine experiences that are so moving i have to explain them, communicate them somehow...so i hope no one ever takes offense that i don't list them, or i didn't get to hear their set properly...i try my hardest...

Dom / love tongue attack / on * off superfast / snoel (memphis) / jesus makes the shotgun sound

so arriving on our doorstep an hour or so before the show... snoel from tennessee, who ends up gracing us with fricative beats and pop friendliness... on * off superfast soared and wound into the earth... love tongue attack spit some croon.sweet rhymes and dom was the source of many shout outs...and the christ explosive riverside band (surprised me, was so glad)...auto da fe on a fantastic flyer...holy buffaglow we'll hear from soon...

a great night...one that reminds me (even as today we finally mop up the pixie stick sticky floor*) (*thanx snoel) community is stonger than ever...

thanx to isaac for a fabulous show, hope to host you here again soon...

William Caruso's Wet Hot Social Anxiety / The Casual Lust (from S.F.) / Woolly Mammoth / John Gake / Devon Williams & the Grunge Gods

really enjoyed this show so far, i'm working in my room, so i am hearing v. seeing mostly, but would like everyone who's played to return...

the casual lust (duo from sf who played last) hopefully returning to the il corral in late june...(bavab bavab will be on tour i think so it may be early july),...but soon regardless...her voice thrills castles in the sky then kicks down walls with some power from somewhere never flagging...i really want more people from la to hear them...

this was a still and attentive crowd night... singer.songwriter in many forms played, and it was all good... william and his 8track, the grunge gods, woolly mammoth (who i think really enjoyed the swinging rope)... and congratulations to john gake for kxlu sounds...

listening away from the actual performance sort of flattens the sound for me so i can hear it more thoroughly...otherwise i find myself looking at everyone watching what they're doing and hearing it, but it gets pieced up that way.... if i'm not watching, the listening takes over completely... i like to be right in the room though...then you're there physically absorbing the sound and giving back to the performer... ideally i could always do that... but i had a fabulous night listening so... can't complain

we are trying to make a curtain. we have some semi-quality scraps, maybe if you are neat, and want your woven thread art up at the il corral forever, you would like to help us with fabric / time / experience / vision etc. we can help, but know little of sewing...

we have new lights...!

debaser couldn't make it, but our hearts were with him. this was a great show. glad school's out so we can hear A++...this was actually the first time i'd seen any of these bands live, so that was a rare night! all new scrumpcious sound....

saturday july 15th art show

Casey's FriendsCollective art show
Music by XO Kid and Groundfloor
Live music by Xipper

clothing swap and sense feast

yesterday i actually left the house, tho i was surrounded by familiar faces,...leslieQ put on a fabulous event with some serious art / high craftiness / eco.cycle energy behind it!

there were some amazing sounds and acoutrements there for the indulgent taking in...despite being under the weather, i had a lovely time.

there were fiction readings, giant oscillating glow orbs suspended from the cieling, banjo songstrixing, scapes and scrapes of sound, operatic garbage, projectile images, 'gehtto punk' decor to take in, and nativey electronica mash...we got to dress up and take home whatever we wanted! it was super fun. really super pure fun.

the smell is a fantastic place! they have everything you need there, vegan food & drink / art / music / bike racks / zine stacks / book shelves / a mixed tape swap...it is pretty swell, and they also have that giant room with a huge stage...plus great murals, and always art up... this was the first time in a long time i had been there, so it had changed...

at the end of the night a bunch of bags of clothes were free for people living nearby...a wonderful way to end...leslieQ will be hosting a swap show night at the il corral sometime in the near future, very rad...

.. under the influence of the moon and the big bang....

glad to include vaginals to the june 17th show... a friend from the che cafe ... that will be a crazy night...

the 'stay to play' policy...stay around and aware...

toward collectivity...

unlike the pay to play policy which is how clubs operate we ask that people stay around (to help set up / clean up...keep things running even after they play etc.) and stay aware: (drink inside / smoke outside...are your friends rowdy, can you talk to them before we have to? put your trash in the trash and recycling in the recycling. don't jack gear or be violent.....mostly just understand that we live here and do this because we love art...etc.)

we don't need anyone to play here...we do each and every show because it matters and the community supports it...it would take only the concerted effort of one individual to make each show run so much more smoothly. volunteering is key....

the il corral collective is a way of behaving in the socially designated public / performance space. an accountability to the 'scene(s)' that we're all a part of... a more 'enlightened' way of participating in the many layers of 'underground'...(lots of disclaimer, but let's debate these words later)...we're just trying to get the basics down for now... there aren't a lot of rules here, but we can only keep it that way if people self-regulate....

if you don't get this you should visit the library or start hitch.hiking right away.....sorry if that sounded rude, but i think that it's good advice...someone once told me...

if you're reading this you're super rad anyway, and thanx for being that way, and for supporting / creating this thus far....

the inner workings...

just so you know:

we update the site (www.ilcorral.net) as often as we can...

probably you understand there is lag time and consistant changes, so if something is urgent, and i can't get to the site editing, i will post it here...

i've started this electronic posting so you can know what goes on, this is a way a collective can exist...

smash shazam thus!

about this time last year i was barely getting familiar with people who come to the il corral, as they were coming to know us, and now i am happy to say that this place and it's extended extended family strings are deeply attached to the soft spots of my headstrong heart...so it is because i care so much for this community that i wanted to start documenting the experiences in this place with more consistancy, and to work with concerted effort toward collectivity here, which has local, national and international/global value...

the picture of our space was taken by a friend of the il corral...
